The University of Aberdeen has sponsored two of a pod of life-size dolphin sculptures that have temporarily set up home in Aberdeen. The University is internationally recognised for its groundbreaking research into dolphins, and so is supporting the city of Aberdeen’s Wild Dolphins fundraising art project.

The Aquatics Centre, the Sir Duncan Rice Library and the Cruickshank Gardens are currently hosting three of the 50 beautifully decorated dolphins that have been placed around the city.

Of course, if you’d like to see some dolphins in realy life, then you’ve come to the right place as Aberdeen is a great place for dolphin spotting!

The 125th annual Aberdeen Torcher Parade was held on May 3rd this year. The Parade, started in 1889, is Europe’s largest student-led parade and raises thousands of pounds for local charities every year.

Themes this year included Disney’s Frozen, the Lego Movie and Marvel Superheroes. The parade has been a long-standing tradition in Aberdeen. Organised by the Aberdeen University Students’ Association Raising And Giving Campaign, the event contributes thousands of pounds to organisations such as Aberdeen Cyrenians and CLAN Cancer Support.

This year’s route saw the students start from Gallowgate, walking over School Hill, Rosemount Viaduct, Skene St, Carden Place, Queen’s Cross (where the torches were  lit) and finally onto Union St.
