QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017

wur_by-subject-logoThe University of Aberdeen features amongst the world’s elite institutions in the QS World University Rankings by Subject out today (Wednesday 8 March).

The rankings highlight the world’s top universities in a range of subject areas, and the University of Aberdeen has been placed in the top 30 (28th) in the world for Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies and in the top 50 (47th) for Engineering (Mineral and Mining).

Further success sees Archaeology, Agriculture and Forestry, Environmental Sciences and Anthropology at the University of Aberdeen ranked within the top 100 in the world.

Aberdeen ranked in top 100 universities in Europe

The University of Aberdeen has been named 85th best in Europe in a new list compiled by Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The UK topped the rankings of the 200 best universities in Europe, taking nearly a quarter of places, with 46. The rankings were based on the data and methodology used to compile the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016.

University of Aberdeen ranked in the Top 25 universities over 400 years old

12568220_1566208440366934_989033664_nThe University of Aberdeen has been ranked 23rd in the world in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings of the best ancient universities.

The rankings list the top institutions that are over 400 year old, based on data collected for the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-16.

It is fitting that the rankings were released this week, as the University of Aberdeen community gathered last weekend to mark Founders’ Day, commenorating the University’s historic origins and benefactors.

The University of Aberdeen was founded by a Papal Bull issued by Pope Alexander VI on 10 February 1495. Find out more about the history of the University here.

University of Aberdeen ranked 6th in the UK for Geology

stone-arch-828730_960_720The University of Aberdeen is now ranked 6th in the UK for Geology, according to the latest Complete University Guide rakings.

Geology has been taught at Aberdeen for more than 150 years, with degrees awarded since 1892. Based in the Energy Capital of Europe, teaching and research at Aberdeen has a strong focus on the evolution of sedimentary basins which host many of the world’s significant resources, over a broad spectrum of scales and geoscientific disciplines.

University of Aberdeen ranked in top 40 international universities

Times Higher Education (THE) has ranked the University as 37th in their list of the world’s 200 ‘most international universities’, making it the second highest Scottish university to be included in the rankings.

The list ranks each institution on the basis of student diversity and the extent of its global academic collaborations, areas in which the University has been judged to have performed strongly.
